Version 1: When Kazuya built his private military force, he didn't have his sight set on only humans, but also animals too, and thus the development of animals for military use moved forward. It is unclear what happened to Roger after this, although in the non-canon Tekken Tag Tournament 2 he is remorseful of his actions and seeks out his family to try and apologize to them. Deeply disappointed by his abandoning them, Roger's Wife divorced him. He remained here however of his own volition, living in luxury, until his wife and son found him. It is not clear who he was kidnapped by, but he ended up back in the destroyed Zaibatsu laboratories that had belonged to Dr Bosconovitch. Many years later, however, Roger was kidnapped. The three lived in peace, having apparently escaped the labs after Kazuya's fall from power. Shortly after this, he met his wife and the two had a joey that they named Roger Jr. Roger was entered into the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 as a competitor. Kazuya later deemed this experiment to be a useless failure.
The program was run by Mishima Industries and headed by Doctor Bosconovitch. He was the first kangaroo born at the Mishima Zaibatsu's biotech labs as part of Kazuya Mishima's program to create a transgenic military animals. Roger is a genetically engineered kangaroo with the ability to fight, jump extremely high and run very fast.
